Al Barari is an exclusive gated eco-community located on beautifully landscaped grounds, including thriving gardens, quiet lakes, and bubbling freshwater streams. Home to some of the most incredible and luxurious homes in Dubai, it’s no surprise that the secluded community is well-supplied with fantastic restaurants.
The joy of restaurants in Al Barari is that most of them have views of the serene greenery, a feast for the eyes, as those of us living in the dusty desert of Dubai will confirm.
Adjoining the estate of Al Barari is Majan, a fast-growing suburb with many high-rise apartments. The restaurants are more budget-friendly with less fabulous views but still serve tasty meals.
Between the two areas, you’ll find cuisine ranging from high-end Asian fusion to family-friendly burger joints. Here are our top 10 restaurants in Al Barari.
1. The Farm Restaurant
Located in one of the most beautiful settings in Dubai, the Farm restaurant has to top any list of restaurants in Al Barari.
The restaurant consists of innovative glass-cubed (and air-conditioned) dining areas on decks and outdoor seating around a lush stream and pond. The seating makes the most of the garden and water features and allows for quiet and more boisterous customers.
The food is fresh and delicious. The Farm’s breakfasts are gorgeous, from homemade granola and uber-trendy acai bowls to hearty omelets and traditional Arabian platters. Try their exquisite salads (I love the Thai beef salad), a biryani from their Asian menu, or a freshly baked pizza for lunch or dinner.
Their food is made from scratch, with wholesome, organic ingredients – the meat is hormone-free. Allergies and food preferences are catered for, so it’s a haven for vegans or those of us on paleo or gluten-free diets.
Weekends find this restaurant packed as there is an excellent play area for children. Come and enjoy the family day, or pop in during the week when it’s quiet enough to hear the birds, the fountains, and the wind in the trees. You’ll leave refreshed in spirit and body.

2. Cherabinth Seafood Restaurant
If you are a seafood fan, Cherabinth must be on your radar. Located next to the lake in the magnificent landscape of Al Barari, Cherabinth specializes in sustainably sourced local and international fish and seafood – for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
You may wonder what seafood you eat for breakfast. Head to Cherabinth for the delectable spicy shrimp scramble or salmon toastie. Try their hearty seafood frittata or prawn breakfast burrito. They also have options for vegetarians – the French toast is magical.
For lunch and dinner, the menu ranges across a variety of fish and seafood, which you can have prepared in multiple ways. The menu is interactive and guest-led, meaning you have the pick of sides and sauces.
A plate of fish and chips is always a favorite, and you can enjoy it in the classic British style or experiment with fish done Katsu-style, tempura, cayenne, or even with a ginger-beer batter. There’s also calamari, prawns, and mussels for the more adventurous.
For celebrations, try the whole Canadian lobster – chosen live from the tank – smothered in lemon butter or a luscious bouillabaisse. The truffle mac and cheese is as luxurious and aromatic as it sounds.
The menu is also sure to please youngsters, with crispy prawns, a seafood burger, and more on the curated kids’ menu. When they’ve eaten, children can head out to the well-equipped playground.
Children will also delight in the wooden boat in the restaurant – yes, you can sit and eat in it. The restaurant has a coastal vibe, with rustic wooden features, oak paneling, rope fixtures, and an enormous three-dimensional octopus, custom-made for the restaurant.
Outside seating is a pleasure in the cooler winter months, with a beautiful view of the lake and botanical gardens. This eatery is a neighborhood favorite, and you’ll soon find yourself popping in for breakfast, a working lunch, or a lengthy family dinner.

4. Third Wave Café
One of Dubai’s most unusual coffee shops (and there is an endless number of them) is Third Wave Café, not only for the tranquil setting by one of Al Barari’s ponds but also for the “coffee mixology and bespoke brewing.”
The design of the café was inspired by the minimalism of Japanese tea houses, where the interiors do not distract from the coffee or tea-drinking experience. This is a clue to the seriousness with which they take their coffee.
The excellently trained and passionately knowledgeable owner/barista has specially trained staff who don’t just make a cup of coffee. Here, coffee-making becomes a triumph of art and science, with attention paid to every step of the process, from beans to water and from temperature to flow rate. The chemistry behind your beverage is palpable, and you will taste the results.
Fans of tea aren’t ignored either – they have a vast selection. And if you’re peckish, they have a full vegan menu, with breakfast, light meals, and delicious bakes, including, of course, a luscious coffee cake.
Visit the café for new techniques in coffee engineering and order a custom-made coffee unique to your tastebuds.

7. Daddy’s Smokehouse and BBQ Grill
Fans of American-style smoked BBQ will love this smokehouse in Majan. The owner and his wife prepare all the food themselves, inspired by their travels to the US, where they learned the low, slow BBQ trade.
The menu includes typical American starters, like Mac ‘n Cheese balls, Jalapeno Poppers, and Smoked Chicken Wings – order the wings with the Honey BBQ dipping sauce for a taste sensation.
There are salads and soups, but you’re there for the meat, particularly the brisket. You can enjoy a 250g slice of fork-tender brisket, with buttermilk biscuit and slaw, for the full-on Texan experience. Or go sandwich-style with either the Classic or Daddy’s brisket sandwich, stuffed with slaw and secret sauce.
Burger and rib fans won’t be disappointed, as they’re well catered for. Burgers come standard with two 90g patties, and you can choose from a variety of options: mushroom sauce, crispy fried onions, sliced cheese, fried egg, pastrami, and pickles, all slathered onto a brioche bun. Add a side of Mac ‘n Cheese or some of their loaded fries. The sweet potato fries with cheese and jalapeno are genius.
You have to finish off with a Brownie Sundae – if you have the space, which we didn’t, but went ahead anyway.
With their cozy, homelike ambiance and superb food, you’ll want to sit and work through their menu from front to back.

Their menu covers traditional Italian pizza and pasta and light meals like baked potatoes and sandwiches. It’s all tasty, good quality food made onsite at attractive prices. But what stands out are their pizzas and burgers.
The Seafood pizza comes highly recommended, with a generous topping of prawns and calamari, while the Chicken Fajita pizza is a delight, full of cheese and chili.
Try the grilled chicken and veg burger, and have one of their freshly squeezed juices on the side. The juices are healthy and come in various combinations, such as watermelon and citrus.
It’s worth making your way out to this little gem, especially if you’ve been out all night and have the munchies.

With its café-style counter and comfortable booths, Mirchi Garden is ideal for a quick lunch or dinner. It’s busy, with people wandering in and out for juices and takeaways, and is popular with professionals and laborers alike, especially for the numerous combo-specials.
Mirchi Garden’s biriyanis are famous, with the chicken and chicken tikka highly recommended. Make sure you get there early – there’s a massive demand for this amazingly spiced rice dish, and they run out at busy times. The BBQ kebabs are also delicious, as are their freshly made bread and wraps.
