The 10 Best Dubai Hills Mall Restaurants (to Try AFTER Riding the Storm Coaster)

Dubai Hills Mall is one of the newest and most glamorous malls in Dubai, located next to the rolling estates and villas of the Dubai Hills Estate. With high-end boutiques, trendy stores, Instagrammable sculptures, and an indoor rollercoaster, Dubai Hills Mall is also home to several fantastic restaurants.

You can enjoy Asian, Turkish, Lebanese, and French cuisine and more within the mall. Whether you want a bolstering breakfast before shopping, a lazy lunch, a quick coffee, or a romantic dinner, there’s always a restaurant available.

Here are the top 10 restaurants in Dubai Hills Mall. I offer them with a warning for those with weak stomachs: eat only after you’ve ridden the Storm Coaster.

1. Akiba Dori

Fans of Japanese anime culture have been waiting for Akiba Dori to open in Dubai Hills Mall – the eatery already has a cult-like following.

Dubai Hills Mall hosts the fourth newly opened Akiba Dori, which serves Asian-inspired cuisine and their famous Tokyo Neapolitan pizzas, made with their signature fluffy crust.

Their menu at this location also includes breakfast, with tamagoyaki French toast and chicken and waffles highly recommended. (How can they be crisp, sweet, and savory all at once?) There’s also a menu for youngsters, with kid-sized pizzas, burgers, and chicken strips.

The biggest draw of Akiba Dori is their pizza, which boasts a light, feathery crust thanks to the 26 hours of proofing time and short, sizzling hot bake in the bespoke pizza oven. The pizzas come with deliciously charred edges on the crusts and a good balance of toppings – although the crust isn’t quite strong enough to hold up and will need to be rolled or helped into the waiting mouth. Try the Diavola for a savory bite.

Part of the restaurant’s appeal is the street-inspired interior. Each restaurant is unique, with the Dubai Hills venue featuring massive yellow neon arches surrounding the dining area. You’ll find yourself distracted by bright blues, pinks, chequered flooring, and shiny wooden and marble-topped tables – it’s visually intense, noisy, and plays amazing music.

Bring the family – or let your teenagers go without you. Just ask them to bring a pizza back for you.

2. Zou Zou

A well-known local brand, Zou Zou serves fabulous Turkish and Lebanese cuisine and is always guaranteed to be packed.

The Dubai Hills branch is no different. The breakfast platters are magnificent or choose the cold appetizer platter if you want to share some hummus and bread. Zou Zou’s hummus is some of the best in town, a bold statement for Dubai. I love their pide for lunch, especially the cheese pide with its oozy inside and soft yet crisp crust. You also can’t go wrong with their tasty mixed grill.

If you’re just stopping into Zou Zou for a coffee, enjoy their Arabic coffee or the refreshing Moroccan tea with some baklava and ice cream on the side.

Zou Zou is a great choice for celebrating with friends and family with authentic food and a friendly, warm atmosphere.

3. Colt Equestrian Café

This stylish and elegant eatery’s beautiful interior will tempt you. The classic equestrian theme is expressed in the dark wooden furniture, English country-style fittings, complete with a library, and some local touches  – after all, the equestrian heritage is as rich in the Middle East as anywhere in Europe.

Although the menu has a European flair, there are familiar flavors as well. The breakfast menu, for instance, includes both French toast and shakshuka. The best of the mains are a succulent Middle Eastern lamb shank, exquisitely spiced, and their perfectly cooked Black Angus rib-eye steak.

Leave room for their decadent desserts, which taste as lovely as they look. Choose the Best Sellers Trio to sample three of their most popular desserts, or have a taste of mom’s cooking and enjoy (as I did) the Umm Ali.

This restaurant invites you to have a leisurely meal, whether on a romantic date or with friends. There is a children’s menu as well, but this high-end, gorgeous restaurant is wasted on the little ones.

4. Ladurée

You’ll be forgiven for thinking you’ve just been transported to nineteenth-century Paris when you step into this exquisitely decorated tea shop and patisserie.

Fitted out in pale green and pink, the interiors of Ladurée are feminine and opulent, with gilt, marble, silk, and crystal as befits a transplant from France, where the original salon is celebrating its 160th year.

The timeless elegance of Ladurée is reflected in their spectacular displays – you can purchase their signature macarons to take home, along with fragrant tea leaves, indulgent candies, and delectable pastries.

Taking tea or breakfast at Ladurée is not to be rushed. The service is excellent, but you’ll want to sit and savor the whole experience.

The beautifully presented breakfasts include Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine, as well as luscious pancakes, waffles, and French toast. Linger for lunch and enjoy a fresh salad, French onion soup, or a quiche.

The best time to visit is for afternoon tea, where you’ll receive an elegant cake stand filled with sandwiches, pastries, croissants, and macarons, along with tea, coffee, or hot chocolate. The extravagant variety allows you to sample many of the favorites.

5. Molten Chocolate Café

This charming café specializes in desserts, specifically those made with chocolate, luring in chocolate lovers and sugar junkies alike.

The beautiful interior is decorated in shades of pistachio and light pink, with understated lighting and cozy booths. What’ll draw your eye, though, is the tempting display of pastries and confectionery.

The menu includes a superb range of desserts, all with lashings of Belgian chocolate: try the crepes, waffles, brownies, or churros (my personal favorite). You can also splurge on a chocolate fondue, just for one, or indulge in the Molten Planet, a glorious chocolate sundae. Pair your choice with a cup of their excellent coffee to balance the sugar surge.

You can also enjoy more standard café fare, including hearty breakfasts, sandwiches, and paratha, all tasty. But if you’re any kind of chocaholic, go to Molten Chocolate Café for their specialties and waft out in a dreamy, chocolate-fuelled stupor.

6. Miyabi Sushi

One of Dubai’s favorite Japanese restaurants, Miyabi Sushi is already ten years old. The Dubai Hills branch is the latest venue for this popular eatery and does not disappoint.

The casual ambiance manages to be both elegant and cozy, to the extent that you forget you’re dining in an enormous mall.

As fans of Miyabi Sushi will attest, their contemporary take on Japanese cuisine, their use of the freshest ingredients, and their pocket-friendly prices keep you coming back.

The menu is vast and eclectic, ranging from dumplings to sushi and bao buns to noodles. Highlights include their fusion sushi: try the black rice creations, or bring your vegetarian friends for a sushi treat. The Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Roll is a unique experience, combining shrimp tempura, mango, cream cheese, and, yes, Cheetos.

Their gyoza and tempura shrimp are worthwhile, but the best appetizer is the creamy eggplant with feta and truffles – it’s mouthwatering. Move on to a hearty bowl of ramen or enjoy a generous poke bowl full of zingy flavors.

Regarded by many as the best Asian restaurant brand in Dubai, this new Miyabi Sushi lives up to its promise of a diverse menu, relaxed and friendly service, and gorgeous, eco-friendly food.

  • Opening times: Sunday-Thursday 10:00 am-10 pm, Friday-Saturday 10:00 am-12:00 am

7. Wagamama

Wagamama is a world-famous name in Asian cuisine and has several branches in Dubai. Dubai Hills Mall is the latest venue in their line of successes.

As expected, the ambiance is noisy and fast-paced, with a Japanese noodle bar atmosphere, although there are also several smaller tables available. The bright, trendy décor is familiar to fans, and the fragrances of ginger and soy are welcoming.

The menu offers the standard Wagamama fare, fresh and nourishing rice, and noodle dishes. There’s a wide range of vegetarian and vegan cuisine available as well.

The classic Wagamama ramen bowl is pure comfort food, as is our family favorite, the Korean barbeque beef donburi. Snack on the bang bang cauliflower and don’t forget a simple bowl of edamame beans.

The usual yet somewhat disconcerting service style applies, with food coming out as it’s ready.

  • Opening times: Sunday-Thursday 12:00 pm-11:00 pm, Friday-Saturday 12:00 pm-12:00 am

8. Sushi Library

Another restaurant offering Japanese cuisine, Sushi Library, is family-friendly, casual, and attractive. The fun vibe is infectious, and you find yourself laughing with the staff.

Their core offering is sushi, with traditional and more creative items available. Sushi Library is known for its beautiful food presentation – sushi in a boat is pretty special.

Order one of their special platters for a group, so you can all sample the signature CSY Shrimp, the Crab n’ Cheese, Krunchy Veggie, and Zebra Rolls. The sashimi and nigiri are fresh and luscious – they also come in platter sizes.

Also recommended are the Tofu Katus, the Salmon Donburi bowl, and the deliciously crisp vegetable tempura.

 9. Tim Horton’s Innovation Café

This premium Tim Horton’s Coffee House, the first in the UAE,  serves fans of the Canadian brand in Dubai Hills Mall. You can visit the other two regular stores in the mall, but this store is more upmarket.

The design of this café is elegant yet comfortable, with an enormous rustic wooden table at the center, topped by a natural-looking tree. Other beautiful elements inspired by nature are the ornamental leaves, which “blow” right onto the ceiling, the grey slate walls, and the curved wooden bar.

With appealing lighting and a choice of armchairs or dining tables, the café creates a community vibe: there are always people checking their laptops, chatting, and having lunch.

What makes this Tim Horton’s different is the specialized brewing machinery, a wider variety of coffee beans, and the in-house coffee grinding, spreading the irresistible aroma of fresh coffee.

10. PappaRoti

If you’ve never experienced one of PappaRoti’s signature buns, you are in for a glorious surprise. The reason people go to this café is to eat these warm, coffee-coated butter buns.

The menu is simple: choose a bun with a topping, an ice-cream stuffed pastry, or a traditional kunafa. But it’s a tough choice between toppings: strawberry, chocolate, hazelnut, toffee, honey, Nutella, or biscuit butter.

The beverages are equally delightful, with the usual range of hot and cold coffees, all Fair Trade sourced. There’s milk tea, as well as freshly squeezed juices. Or choose a combo where you get a warm drink and a plain bun.

A PappaRoti bun is suitable for any time of the day: they make an excellent breakfast with a caffe latte and are an ideal pick-me-up when you’re exhausted by shopping.
